LOCATION & BACKGROUND
Residing in Nîmes, France, Alexandra divides her time between her studio practice, and creative direction in Paris. Her background in industrial design laid the groundwork for a more tactile and material-oriented approach to object-making. Since 2020, she has immersed herself in hands-on collaborations with skilled artisans—ceramists, glassblowers, mosaicists, and more—deepening her understanding of traditional crafts.
CREATIVE APPROACH & INSPIRATION
At the core of her artistic approach is a dialogue between gesture and material. Inspired by Japanese hitsuzendō and artists like Pierrette Bloch, she explores the idea of movement as a spontaneous, intentional act. Her Studio operates as a research lab, offering small collections of objects that merge artisanal techniques with contemporary design — focusing on tableware and everyday forms that are both expressive and utilitarian.
FAVOURITE THING AT HOME
One of Alexandra’s most cherished items is a vintage brass, flower-shaped lamp from the 1970s, discovered at a flea market in Ardèche. It holds emotional resonance—a comforting piece that recalls the familiar atmosphere of her grandmother’s home. Its nostalgic charm and kitsch aesthetic offer a sense of familiarity that speaks to her appreciation for personal histories in objects.
MEANING OF HOME
For Alexandra, home is not necessarily about permanence. Having moved frequently, she has come to understand home as a feeling. It’s in the incense she lights, or a beloved book carried from place to place. Home, is a quiet refuge where one can be themselves without effort or pretense. It is a place of restoration, where creative energy is nurtured.
