LOCATION & BACKGROUND

Originally from Mexico City, Liliana relocated to Oaxaca before settling in Barcelona, where she works out of her shared studio. With deep roots in Mexican culture and a strong connection to nature, she is now embedded in Barcelona’s creative scene, collaborating with artists and teaching ceramics. Her background in graphic design and personal transformation after a severe health scare shape her resilient and deeply reflective artistic voice.

CREATIVE APPROACH & INSPIRATION

Liliana’s practice is organic and ever-evolving. She describes her approach as intuitive, where clay becomes a collaborator rather than a medium she controls. Her work is grounded in personal experience and scientific research; exploring intersections between REM sleep, quantum listening, water memory, and healing frequencies. Influenced by artists like Louise Bourgeois, Ana Mendieta, and her mentor Mari Chordà, she draws constant inspiration from books, dreams, and interactions with nature.

FAVOURITE THING AT HOME

Though often on the move, she carries with her a few sacred objects: journals filled with ideas, rocks and minerals from her travels, and a ceramic sculpture of Coatlicue from Mexico. This protective piece reminds her of her roots, offers strength, and brings a sense of continuity and belonging across all the places she calls home.

MEANING OF HOME

To Liliana, home is where her nervous system can rest and she can explore her inner world freely. After ten moves in six years, she’s learned to carry her essence with her. “I am my home,” she says, while still cherishing the act of creating a space filled with meaning and memory.
