Jiayao is based in London, UK, where she also produces her work in her studio space.
Jiayao began her artistic journey in ceramics in Jingdezhen, China, the renowned porcelain capital, before moving to London to pursue an MA in Designer Maker. Her creative approach emphasizes hands-on exploration and proactive thinking, inspired by her passion for British handcraft culture and interactions with local artists.
CREATIVE APPROACH & INSPIRATION
Inspired by ancient artifacts and 20th-century artists like Henry Moore, Jiayao’s work embraces the simplicity and rawness of natural materials. Her studio is a space for reflection and experimentation, where creativity flows through hands-on engagement with clay. Her designs blend Eastern and Western influences, merging utility with art.

Her favourite items are small wooden creations collected during her travels, each with personal stories or gifted by friends, adding a sense of warmth and memory to her home.
