Why I Believe Heritage Matters & Why RENNK Feels Important to Share:
When I first came across RENNK, something resonated deeply. Their work carried the same feeling that has always guided Tajmi: a respect for roots, for stories, for the hands that shape the things we live with. As I learned more about the founders, two lifelong friends raised between the misty shores of the Black Sea and the ancient valleys of Cappadocia, I felt an immediate connection. Their childhood memories, surrounded by colour, craft, and handmade beauty, echo so much of what I believe makes a home meaningful.
RENNK is a new brand, but its roots run long. Every piece they create is hand-sewn in Türkiye using techniques passed down through generations. Natural materials, ancestral dyeing methods, slow production, cultural textiles; all of it reflects a country with one of the richest textile histories in the world.
For centuries, textiles in Türkiye were not simply functional objects. They were symbols of identity, artistry, community. Families wove, dyed, embroidered; artisans dedicated their lives to the loom; villages developed their own colours, patterns, and weaving styles. It was a world where fabrics carried stories.
Yet so much of that has faded under modern pressures. Industrial production, mass consumption, and the speed of the global market have pushed many traditional crafts to the margins. The small workshops, the natural dye masters, the loom weavers, they survive thanks to people who protect and continue these skills with devotion.
This is exactly what drew me to RENNK. They aren’t imitating heritage; they are actively preserving it. They work closely with master artisans across Türkiye, reviving ancestral techniques while designing pieces that feel fresh and contemporary. Their palette is bold, their materials refined, and every item carries the subtle irregularities that can only come from a human hand.
And now, I’m proud that Tajmi is the first in Europe to share their work. Bringing RENNK into our curation isn’t just about offering beautiful pieces, it’s about championing a way of creating that the world urgently needs to protect.
I’ve always believed that the objects we bring into our homes should mean something. They should tell a story, reflect a culture, honour a craft. They should carry the passion of the people who made them. RENNK embodies all of this.
By sharing their work, I hope to help keep these traditions survive, and invite our community to live with objects that have soul, history, and heart.
