Meet the Maker: Functional Design by Joshua Linacisoro

In the layered landscapes between San Sebastián and Barcelona,

Joshua Linacisoro moves between past and present, emotion and function, tradition and experimentation. His work, which is often poetic, occasionally impulsive, and always intentional, invites us into a moment of connection with the hands that crafted it.

Joshua’s approach to design isn’t fixed. It evolves, guided less by trends and more by instinct, materiality, and a deep curiosity for history, anthropology, and the sacred. Whether crafting a piece rooted in heritage or letting the creative process lead, what remains constant is his sensitivity, his ability to make objects that feel both considered and alive.

Born and raised in the Basque Country to a family of creatives, Joshua grew up immersed in the arts. His education reflects a similarly rich mix: technical drawing at Easo Politécnico, industrial design engineering at MU Mondragón, and product design at Elisava. These layered foundations allow him to navigate freely between disciplines, often letting sculpture and function speak simultaneously.

Rather than anchor himself to a single style or school, Joshua draws inspiration from many directions: the minimalism of Chillida, the forms of Miró, the textures of Tàpies. Artists like Noguchi and Hepworth influence his sense of tactility, while Giacometti’s introspective energy echoes in his sculptural work. Ideas often find him while in motion, maybe riding his bike through the Basque countryside or weaving through the city streets.

At Tajmi, we’re drawn to creators who bring meaning to form, who see design not only as an object, but as a conversation between past and present, emotion and utility. Joshua’s work embodies this balance. His ability to weave history, culture, and material exploration into pieces that are both functional and expressive reflects the very essence of what we value.

His objects become stories of place and craftsmanship.  That’s why we’re proud to share his work with our community, and to celebrate the thoughtful, intentional design that defines both his practice and ours.
